Our Folk Hero

  • Elevation Beer Company 115 Pahlone Parkway Poncha Springs, CO 81242 United States (map)

Join us and our Winter Art Resident, Lindsay Sutton-Stephens, on Friday, December 15th from 5pm 'till 8pm. Proceeds from art sales will go to The Bonnie Culpepper CMA Scholarship Fund.

From the Artist:
Oso Blanco, a local musician and friend, referred to Bonnie Culpepper as a "folk hero" after she tragically passed away this fall. These words have stayed with me for months. They perfectly encapsulate the essence of this talented, beautiful, and heroic individual. I was fortunate enough to meet Bonnie through our community's music scene, then she became a friend & the first person to teach Sutty guitar. That’s just who she was to me. I now realize how many different things she was to so many different people: daughter, sister, farmer, EMT, equestrian, partner, friend, coworker, bandmate….the list goes on and on. “Folk hero" feels like such a profound description, reflecting the incredible spirit that Bonnie embodied.

My annual winter show at Elevation Beer Company will be showcasing a series of paintings inspired by the legendary Bonnie Culpepper, in tribute to “our folk hero”. To show our appreciation for her immense contributions to our community, 25% of all show proceeds throughout and 15% of all beer sales on opening night will be donated to the Bonnie Culpepper CMA scholarship fund. This is an opportunity to give back to the future of music in our valley, and honor the talent, beauty, and life that Bonnie was.
