Growing up, playing sports has always been a passion of mine, specifically ice hockey. I fell in love with the game at an early age and have been involved in it, in all different capacities, since I first laced up my skates in 1995. In New Jersey, ice hockey is an extremely competitive sport. Special thanks to my mom and dad for all the miles, hotel rooms, and 4 am practices. I got involved with a travel team early on and had the opportunity to grow my skills as a hockey player and as a young adult. Hockey has given me my work ethic, understanding of teamwork, the importance of brotherhood, and sacrifice. The list goes on and on, but my love of the game has always remained constant.
The game has taken me to countless cities, states, and different countries. I have had the opportunity to be a part of some excellent teams and met lifelong friends along the way. I credit my time as a player and teammate to many of my attributes today. I am a huge supporter of any team sport, and I value the life skills learned by players. Once I graduated from Texas Tech University, my competitive playing days were behind me. I transitioned to a “beer league” player, where I discovered one of the most glorious pairings known to humanity; beer and hockey. From then on, my interest in hospitality and spirits grew. Not just consuming them, but the production process behind it, and the passion and dedication required to serve them to patrons.
I have had the opportunity to work at many food and drink establishments in my hospitality career. Still, one of the most memorable was the Green Russell in Denver, CO., A pre-prohibition style speakeasy/cocktail lounge. I honed my skills and palate to create a unique experience and cocktails for my guests. I take pride in creating positive, memorable experiences for guests of all levels of society. There is so much power behind a great beer, cocktail, or glass of wine, and the conversations created from it, in moderation, of course.
Now a happily married man, and father of two, I look forward to creating memories and helping my children find their passion. If it happens to be ice hockey or any other sport, I look forward to watching my children learn and experience the same things I was lucky enough to experience playing a team game. Being a husband and dad has filled me with joy, love, and a euphoria that I will cherish forever. Today my hockey equipment sits idle and gathers dust. But as the aroma of sweat and hard work fades, the memories made in it will last forever. Cheers and Slainté to all my fellow recovering hockey players out there!"
